Letter from Mom

March 18, 2020

My Dearest Child,

I’m writing to you because, as always, your Mother is worried about you. I’m hoping that you’re safe, healthy, and still have the abundance of life in front of you; Just as I have always wished for all my kids. I’m also writing to let you know how your elderly mom is feeling and what I’ve had to do to cope with the current situation going on around the world.

I have literally given everything to you, and I do love you, but the time has come that you need to start acting like a responsible person. It might seem like I’m sending some tough love at you right now, but it is not just for your own good, but for all my children. I’ve been trying to knock some sense into you for years (decades) now about this utter denial of yours to show how your actions affect me. Your ongoing crazy spring break partying and behaviors needs to come to an end. Your gaslighting must stop. I’m not sure what this meme thing is, but I’ll look it up on my AOL account later. I know my sweet child, you thought your old mom was just being out of touch, and you ignored me when I keep telling you I’ve been hurting. I’ve been sharing with you my teachings all along. I was trying to let you learn on your own, and like most teenagers, you were sure you knew it all. So, I’ve had to take some drastic steps, which I can clearly see if causing much heartache. I needed to put you in your room so you can get some much needed quite time and reflect on what is important, not just what you think you’re entitled too. Call it a collective timeout if you want, but it is the only way that I was able to get your attention.

Sure, it might seem scary at first to be in your artificially sustained room, but I know you have everything you need. When you were a baby, I’ve wiped your ass enough times with enough things, to know that you will not run out of toilet paper. Remember that time the whole family went camping and needed to use the leaves from the trees? Sure, it was funny, your Aunt Birch laughed so hard and told that story for years…but it worked! You’ll have air to breathe, enough food to keep you nourished, and water to drink. Try to remember that I’m always here even if you can’t see me as you find your way in the dark.

Remember the time you got lost in the mall and got panicked and scared cause you couldn’t find me? Well, it’s the same panic you’re feeling now. Make sure you do what I taught you then…stay put, and the compassion of a nice person or just your own actions will bring you back to me. You will find me again. I have learned through my years that we all need to help each other, or be the one that needs the help, at one point or another. I needed the help and just today, I was brought fresh air, less pollution, cleaner water and some beautiful spring flowers. All this bounty came from just a couple of weeks of my children being forced to stop grabbing my resources for their play factories.

My children, all my children, I can only hope that you see the error of your ways and that you can’t keep taking more than you give back. I’m running out of time to be able to replenish my resources for you. I will always be here to take care of you, how can I not? You were birthed from me and will always be a part of me.

I have no judgement of my children, only justice.

Well, it’s time for me to go deep clean my house; some chores never change. I couldn’t find any more hand sanitizer at the store, so I called your cousin, the Sun, and he’ll be here shortly.

Be well my child, don’t forget to give your Mother some love.

Eternally yours,

Mother Nature

P.S Don’t forget to send your brother Spring a card; It’s his birthday in a few days.

An Iceberg and a Blade of Grass

Icebergs

By now you have probably seen some news outlet post about the giant iceberg, some 2,200 sq. miles, that has just broken off of the Larsen C ice shelf in Antarctica. If you haven’t, here is an informative post on the history of it from National Geographic. Most of the 7.5 billion humans that live on Mother Earth, think Antarctica is some far away place that has no relationship to them. That can’t be farther from the truth. I’d propose, that the the ramifications of what just happened, and is accelerating, in Antarctica are as close to you as the blade of grass you see right in front of you. Our world is changing. It is changing for people, for plants, for animals, the oceans, our air. Most of these changes are happening in such a continued way small and tiny, that it almost becomes imperceptible, unnoticeable, to our daily needs, wants, and lives.  It reminds me of the the boiling frog parable.

Nature, however, maintains her balance, always. There is no judgement, justification on how, or why, or the causes, she will always maintain the balance. I have been fortunate enough to have been one of the very few people of the human population to actually set foot onto the Antarctic continent. It is the harshest place and the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. It was humbling and overwhelming. I was able to bare witness to the natural process, in real-time,  of balancing with the changes taking place on the planet. You can see here a small part of a photo journal gallery I took while I was there. The enormity and scale is truly indescribable. Yet, the smallest of mosses exist on the ice, there is sea life that feeds on the smallest of krill, the penguins gather, birth, and go about their lives. There are now areas on the peninsula that are ice free, the temperatures have been rising the fastest of anywhere else on the entire planet. According to some of the biologists and scientists on the expedition ship I was on, the actual number is closer to 15 degrees Fahrenheit, not the 7 or 8 that is reported. As if 7 or 8 degrees was no big deal. The mosses are now appearing on rocks, not ice. The krill populations have been decreasing causing changes in feeding column and cycles of the whales and other sea life. The penguins are moving their colonies farther and farther south, to try and get the colder climate. They have no place left to go. They are literally out of space on the Earth in order to survive.

So what does all of this have to do with the blade of grass? The bulk of a blade of grass exists out of sight, in the extensive root system below the ground. We only see a small portion of the grass plant itself. The blade is just a tiny part of the plant, but without it, the whole plant can die. What we are witnessing happening in Antarctica with the iceberg the size of a small state breaking off is only the smallest portion of what is actually happening. The waters are warming, the ice canyons are being carved out at a pace that we have no understanding of, and life is changing. As a technologist, I am fully aware that the so-called ‘climate models’ being used to report are only as good as the algorithms, and we have no idea how to write the proper algorithm because we have no reference point to use. Otherwise, the algorithms and the data coming from them are meaningless. We simply do not have the data to write an accurate model, however that is not going to stop the changes from happening, probably at a rate the exceeds any of the most liberal of models. Nature will balance as she needs.

What can each of us do? First, let each of us realize that we are related to the farthest, smallest part of the universe and the  that each and every action we take will play a role in that evolution. It is all inclusive. Make wise choices and dream for the good of all (people, plants, animals, earth), not just for our own personal need at the time.  It is my hope, prayers, and actions for Mother Earth that she is able to maintain the human assault and remain in balance before it is truly to late for her. Dream big folks.

Free Conference Call and Upcoming Santa Fe, NM Workshops

You are invited to a free conference call
Thursday, March 9th at 7:00pm EST

You are invited to a free conference call

Led by Guy Lone Eagle, this call will be an introduction to some advanced curriculums on studies that address our Commons: our clean air, clean water, and the rights of all species to co-create. Commons also refers to an environmental theology based on the oral and academic traditions of hunter-gatherer and agricultural societies. The goal of the dreamers is to access renewal wisdom from our ancestral history and from partnership with nature.

Some may ask: Who are the dreamers? They are spirits/seekers of knowledge in various forms that unite magic and science.

The conference call will also lend insight to the Ways of the Dreamers and Lighting the Eighth Fire, a workshop being offered in Santa Fe April 7th.  “Lighting” is a symbol of awakening. Lighting the 8th Fire was interpreted by the Elders as a unification of dreamers to dream “in” a new way of experiencing this planet.  (For more information on the workshop, click here Ways of the Dreamers and Lighting of the Eighth Fire Santa Fe Workshop)

Ways of the Dreamer

I’ve been involved in a Circle called the Dreamers’ Cosmology with some comrades in the Four Corners area of the US. We have been exploring a set of guidelines for the Dreamer to be used for those looking for common, nature-based teachings, that will help us navigate through these current times. It is rooted in inclusiveness and honoring all of the Natural worlds. Those folks who are interested in working with these guidelines and exploring the mystery surrounding them are showing up at gatherings that have begun to help the movement forward. We are exploring various formats for delivery, and they will be evolving…like we all are! I thought you might like to get a sense for this exploration. Attached is the transcript from a recent gathering that took place in Silver City, NM given by Guy Lone Eagle where he is sharing the Lighting of the Eighth Fire prophecy that we’re working within and a flavor for the medicine wheels. There will be longer, more in-depth lodges and discussions taking place in the upcoming weeks in Silver City, Santa Fe New Mexico, as well as in Durango, Colorado and possibly Moab, Utah. We are also being prepared to take these teachings anywhere they are being called, so if you are drawn to sponsoring a lodge, feel free to get in touch with me and we can discuss further. The Search for Connection

‘Breaker Breaker’ ‐ The Search for Connection
By Dreamweaver

When I was ten years old, I remember (strongly) requesting my Dad climb on the roof of our house to put up a big honkin’ antenna, with lots of wire appendages spanning and sticking out, for the CB radio so I could say “breaker breaker, anybody out there?” to someone in a faraway place. I thought it was just amazing that I could make a connection to someone in the ether just by pushing a button on the side of mouthpiece. Today, we live in a world of high speed connections. It could be answering the cell phone from a caller across the world, to mobile video being posted on the web as fast as world events take place and unfold. The state of our world is based on the assumption that technology makes it quicker, better, faster, easier. After all, it used to take 10 days to get a letter across the U.S. by Pony Express, and now it’s just seconds across the world by email.

Having been involved in some way, shape or form with technology throughout my personal and professional life, I’ve always believed that somehow technology was improving the quality of life for something that must be lacking in our modern life. I thought innovation was always needed. Or is it? It is really difficult, if not impossible, to exist in today’s world without being plugged in. Somehow, technology has become a speedy doorway by allowing us to hurry up and create the connection we search for.  The real question becomes is that doorway filled with the truth or an illusion of relatedness and intimacy to others that we seek? How much of the technologies that have become the fabric of our everyday life, have really caused a separation from other forms instead of connecting us to them? The ‘other forms’ refer to people, animals, plants, and minerals.  As Earth’s children, we are connected to all of them.

The use of technologies gives us a whole new slew of excuses for having to actually be accountable for our actions. I’m not saying or suggesting that we ditch all of our technology outlets and habits, but what I am suggesting is that we look at it from the perspective that unless we are aware and acknowledge that it creates a separation, then it becomes part of the problem instead of part of the solution in our search for connection. The connection becomes an illusion. I have built a relationship with Nature throughout my life with outdoor hobbies. More recently  I have been integrating   the realization that everything is related.  I am learning that movement carries qualities of truth.. The qualities of truth we carry in the Renewal Trails Bundle of Knowledge are respect, willingness, forgiveness, change, faith, clarity, love, and unity. When three or more qualities of truth are present, there will be minimum of a three dimensional movement.

Let’s use a common technology scenario as an example:  phone tag. How many times have you called someone when you knew they wouldn’t answer their phone, and left a voice message so you would not have to actually talk with them?  Instead,  just giving the illusion that you wanted to talk to them.  We’ve all done this at some point in our life, so let’s just all admit that. This could go on for 2‐3 phone calls back and forth. It looks like we’re so busy, we’re so involved, we’re so connected. Yet instead, this illusion intentionally creates separation. The technology, the voice mail, gives us the well‐accepted excuse for why we couldn’t get hold of each other. Chances are, neither party ever actually followed through on the call, but eventually stopped trying to connect and moved on to some other distraction. Looking at that scenario from the lens of truth is movement; there weren’t enough qualities of truth present so the movement dies. It is both interesting and fascinating when applying this concept and teaching to all interactions we have in life whether with friends, family, work, colleagues, relationships, or the driver in the car in front of us. The scenarios’ are endless. Yet at the same time, we continue to live with many situations that just don’t encourage the true interaction and movement. It is easier to just leave a voice mail and move on.

My search for connection has led me to pioneer and explore as an Econologist. When applying technology to solve a problem, it is important to define the purpose so you have something to measure against. An Econologist, as I’m defining it, is:

Econologist (Pronunciation: \i‐kä \‐nō\\‐lō\‐jist\ ) noun An econologist is a person that studies, lives and renews the relatedness between the rhythms of Nature’s intelligence and  modern lifestyles.

As an Econologist, I’m able to combine my 25 plus years of technology expertise, a lifetime of being in Nature, and the Métis teachings being passed down to me that are based on one simple premise: everything is related.  By forming a bridge between commerce, modern lifestyles, and nature there is a whole new connection to share that includes consulting with others and businesses on how to identify and apply the same qualities of truth to their circumstances. The discovery of true connection continues to be fascinating. “Breaker breaker, anybody out there?”
